A new study suggested that the Universe may stop expanding in about 11 billion years and collapse around eight billion years later, ending in a "Big Crunch". Researchers from Cornell and Shanghai Jiao Tong Universities said that dark energy may weaken over time, reversing cosmic expansion and giving the Universe a total lifespan of 33.3 billion years.
