Kerala Governor Rajendran Vishwanath Arlekar has ordered universities to observe August 14 as "Partition Horror Day", taking a cue from a 2022 UGC circular. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan called the directive "unconstitutional and unacceptable", accusing it of promoting a "Sangh Parivar divisive agenda". The Governor suggested organising seminars and staging dramas on the horrors of Partition.
