Uttar Pradesh has banned the mention of caste in most police records, including FIRs, recovery, and arrest memos, following an Allahabad High Court observation that called the practice regressive. The only exception applies to legal cases involving SC/ST Act. It also banned caste-based political rallies, public display of caste on vehicles and signboards, and caste-related content online.
