Bangladesh's Election Commission (EC) said the national polls scheduled for February 2026 "will undoubtedly be the most risky in Bangladesh's electoral history." These remarks came a day after the EC unveiled a roadmap for the elections. While ex-PM Khaleda Zia's Bangladesh Nationalist Party welcomed the EC's roadmap, Jamaat-e-Islami rejected it as a "blueprint" to "undermine free, fair election".
