RBI Governor Sanjay Malhotra has clarified that the RBI has no current proposal to levy charges on UPI transactions, amid concerns that such a charge will be levied. In August, Malhotra had clarified that he never said UPI cannot remain free forever. "There are costs, and these costs have to be paid by someone," he had said.
