Uranus generates its internal heat, University of Houston study led by Dr Xinyue Wang has found. The planet emits 12.5% more heat than it receives from Sun, which is 1.8 billion miles away. Dr Wang said Uranus is "still slowly releasing residual heat from its formation", challenging Voyager 2's 1986 finding that the planet was internally inactive and unusually cold.
