September saw female unemployment rise sharply, especially in urban areas, according to the Periodic Labour Force Survey (PLFS). Urban female joblessness climbed to 9.3%, while overall unemployment edged up to 5.2%. Despite this, labour force participation continues to grow, with female participation reaching 34.1%. Data shows urgent need for policies supporting women's employment.
