US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announced that US and China struck a "framework agreement" for relieving the US unit of TikTok of Chinese control. US President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping will speak on September 19 to finalise the deal, he said. The US government's deadline to shut TikTok if its US unit isn't sold is September 17.
