After US deployed additional defensive capabilities to the Middle East amid the ongoing Israel-Iran conflict, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said the deployments were intended to bolster the country's defence posture in the region. Separately, the UK has also deployed military assets, including fighter jets, to the Middle East, which it said could be used for contingency support.
