US chipmaker Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) is in talks with the Centre to develop indigenous GPUs, while helping India reach its semiconductor and AI goals. AMD highlighted the need to foster local startups, develop home-grown IPs, and "nurture" India's engineering talent to capitalise on the chip opportunity. AMD in 2023 committed to investing $400 million in India over five years.
