A US federal appeals court upheld the California law that restricts social media platforms from providing children “addictive feeds” without parental permission. It rejected arguments by NetChoice, a trade group representing Google, Meta, Netflix, X, and others. Addictive feeds refer to algorithmically curated content tailored to users’ behaviour, which California fears harms kids' mental health.
