American Institute in Taiwan (AIT) criticised China for allegedly distorting WWII-era agreements to justify its sovereignty claims over Taiwan. According to a report, during a military parade, China cited three wartime agreements, claiming Japan returned Taiwan to Chinese rule. "Beijing's narrative is totally wrong," AIT said, adding that the documents did not determine Taiwan's final status.
