The US has announced the termination of Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Nepal. Initially granted after the 2015 earthquake, TPS allowed Nepali nationals to reside and work legally in the US. Over 5,500 beneficiaries have obtained permanent residency in US, while approximately 7,000 will be required to return to Nepal. A 60-day transition period has been provided to the beneficiaries.
