The US government is considering taking stakes in defence firms, particularly Lockheed Martin, after the Trump administration took a 9.9% stake in Intel. US Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick mentioned a "monstrous discussion about defence", noting Lockheed Martin's reliance on government revenue. "They are basically an arm of the US government," Lutnick stated.
