US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved pharma firm Moderna's COVID-19 vaccine Spikevax for children aged 6 months-11 years. However, it is only approved for those with underlying medical conditions that put them at higher risk for severe outcomes from COVID-19. Spikevax had received FDA approval in 2022 for adults after being available for emergency use during the pandemic.
