US releases 2,40,000 pages of Martin Luther King assassination files

The US administration has released over 2,40,000 pages of documents related to the assassination of Martin Luther King Jr. He was killed on April 4, 1968. The civil rights activist was put under surveillance by the FBI, in a bid to discredit his civil rights movement. FBI even tapped his phones, claiming he had links with communism during Cold War.
