The US slammed Pakistan in its 2024 human rights report, saying, "Significant human rights issues included credible reports of: unlawful or arbitrary killings; disappearances; torture or cruel, inhuman, or degrading treatment or punishment...Terrorist violence contributed to human rights problems." Pakistan government rarely took credible steps to punish those who committed the abuses, it added.
