The number of people receiving US unemployment benefits rose to 1.97 million in week ended August 9, highest since November 2021, according to US Labor Department. Further, the number of applications filed for receiving such benefits increased last week to highest level since June 2025, reported Bloomberg. This shows that out-of-work Americans find it increasingly difficult to find another job.
