The Department of Consumer Affairs and the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) have urged consumers across the country to use only BIS-certified helmets, according to a press release. It added that strict action will be taken against the manufacture or sale of helmets without BIS certification. As of June, 176 manufacturers across India hold valid BIS licences for protective helmets.
