The Maharashtra Coastal Zone Management Authority (MCZMA) has approved the Uttan-Virar sea link project by the MMRDA to improve connectivity to the Vadhavan port. Secretary Jayashree Bhoj noted the need for approval from the Union Ministry of Environment and Forests. The project will affect 15.39 hectares of mangroves and 2.5 hectares of reserved forest in the Tungareshwar Wildlife Sanctuary.
