Several places in Jammu and Kashmir were lit up in the colours of the National Flag on the eve of the 77th Independence Day. The historical clock tower in Srinagar's Lal Chowk was also seen illuminated in tricolour. There were no restrictions or internet ban imposed in Kashmir on Independence Day this year, Kashmir Divisional Commissioner Vijay Kumar Bidhuri said.
