Tamil Nadu DGP G Venkataraman said Karur stampede at actor-politician Vijay's rally occurred due to his delayed arrival. "Permission was sought for between 3pm-10pm. The TVK 'X' account said he will come at 12 and crowd started coming in from 11am. He came at 7.40pm," he said. "The people lacked sufficient food and water under the hot sun," he added.
