A Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR) balloon carrying a 30-40 kg instrument fell on a house in a Karnataka village after winds veered it off course, a police officer said. The incident sparked panic amongst villagers after they reportedly noticed a blinking red light from the object. TIFR gave a boy who suffered injuries in the incident ₹15,000 aid.
