West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee said her government will plead for capital punishment for Sanjay Roy in High Court. "I strongly feel that it is a heinous crime that warrants capital punishment," she stated. Notably, a Kolkata court sentenced Roy, convict of rape and murder of a trainee doctor in RG Kar case, to life imprisonment till death on Monday.
