New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani has proposed to tax "richer and whiter neighbourhoods" of the city. On being asked about billionaires, he said, "I don't think that we should have billionaires because...it's so much money in a moment of such inequality." He also said his tax proposal was "not driven by race" despite his campaign targeting white homeowners.
