Rajya Sabha MP Kapil Sibal said, "We'll oppose the impeachment of Justice Yashwant Varma in Parliament based on in-house report." Calling it "unconstitutional", Sibal said, "Impeaching him on the basis of in-house report will set a wrong precedent and will be a huge threat to judicial independence." Notably, large amount of cash was found at Justice Varma's residence in March.
