The US is witnessing a surge in West Nile Virus cases, with over 770 infections reported across 40 states in 2025, about 40 per cent higher than usual. Nearly 500 are severe neuroinvasive cases affecting the brain or spinal cord. WNV spreads mainly through mosquito bites after feeding on infected birds.
