American Heart Association has revised guidelines for blood pressure management, classifying normal BP as below 120 mm Hg systolic and 80 mm Hg diastolic. Elevated blood pressure range has been changed to 120-129 mm Hg systolic and below 80 mm Hg diastolic. Stage 1 hypertension is indicated by 130-139/80-89 mm Hg and Stage 2 by 140/90 mm Hg or above.
