What are ghost flowers?
short by Udit Gupta / on 14 Oct 2025,Tuesday
Ghost flowers (Monotropa uniflora) are rare, ghostly white plants that thrive in shaded forests. Lacking chlorophyll, they survive by parasitising underground fungi linked to tree roots, stealing nutrients. These plants, which bloom in summer or early autumn, are pollinated by bumblebees. Due to their unique survival needs, they can't be grown in gardens.
