The Supreme Court is set to allow green crackers for two days in Delhi-NCR during Diwali and Gurupurab. Green crackers are eco-friendly fireworks developed by CSIR-NEERI to reduce air pollution. They emit 30-40% fewer harmful gases by eliminating toxic chemicals like barium, arsenic, and lead. Using smaller shells, fewer raw materials, and dust suppressants, variants produce less smoke and noise.
