Regulatory T cells (Tregs) are a special type of white blood cell that keeps the immune system balanced. They stop the body from attacking its own tissues, preventing autoimmune diseases, and regulate responses to allergens and infections. Thymus gland produces regulatory T cells. Mary Brunkow, Fred Ramsdell, and Shimon Sakaguchi won the 2025 Nobel Prize for discovering Tregs.
