REITs or Real Estate Investment Trusts are like mutual funds, but instead of stocks/bonds, money is put into income-generating property like malls/hotels. When one buys units of REIT, they are essentially buying a small portion of these properties. They are gaining popularity among Indian investors for generating regular income, and for offering yields of roughly 6-7.5% annually post-COVID.
