China commissioned its third aircraft carrier, Fujian, this week- the first equipped with electromagnetic catapults. The technology enables it to launch heavier, fully loaded warplanes, including early-warning and control aircraft, without relying on land-based systems. Reports said Fujian can operate far out at sea, strike distant targets, and carry aircraft with more fuel and weapons.
