The mysterious lights seen on Moon, called Transient Lunar Phenomena (TLPs), are brief flashes or glows appearing for seconds to hours. According to scientists, they result from meteoroid impacts, gas emissions or charged dust scattering sunlight. ESA-funded Near-Earth Object Lunar Impacts and Optical Transients (NELIOTA) programme has recorded 193 lunar impact flashes in 9 years.
