NB.1.8.1 COVID-19 variant has been designated as variant under monitoring (VUM) by WHO, which said that public health risk posed by NB.1.8.1 is evaluated as low at global level. WHO added that current data does not indicate that this variant leads to more severe illness than other variants in circulation. The LF.7 is a descendant lineage of the JN.1 variant.
