The National Highways Authority of India has laid rules for people building housing or commercial establishments near national highways. The minimum distance to be maintained from a highway's boundary is 7.5 metres. NHAI has imposed a complete ban on construction within 5 metres of the highway boundary. On expressways, construction is prohibited within 15 metres of the boundary, News18 reported.
