Topography of Uttarakhand's Uttarkashi, along with continuous rain over several days, triggered mudslides and flash floods after cloudburst. Uttarkashi's topography- with high ridges, perennial rivers and valleys- is the primary reason. Mud and concrete flow into rivers after heavy rain, gaining momentum on the way, leading to floods downstream. Five people have died and around 100 are missing.
