Sleeping on hard surfaces like floors for weeks can impact spinal alignment, with the lumbar spine (lower back) not receiving adequate support, Dr Jagadish Hiremath said. It may disturb natural sleep cycle and reduce sleep quality, he said. It may, however, help some people with back pain by keeping the spine straighter and reducing slouching/arching, said Dr Chandril Chugh.
