Within 20 minutes of a person quitting tobacco, their blood pressure and heart rate drop to normal and by 12 hours, blood carbon monoxide level drops to normal. Moreover, quitting tobacco for 1 year halves a person's risk of coronary heart disease as compared to a tobacco user and by 15 years, it becomes same as that of a non-user.
