As per the preliminary report, Air India Flight 171 crashed after both fuel cutoff switches flipped seconds after takeoff, shutting down the engines mid-air. At just 625 feet, pilots had no time to recover. Experts say switching to “cutoff” causes immediate engine flameout, typically used only after landing. The reason behind the switch movement remains unknown.
