The Autumn Equinox is an astronomical event when the Sun is exactly above the Equator, causing nearly equal day and night lengths. It will occur on September 22 this year. During this time, the Earth's axis is not tilted towards or away from the Sun. The event marks start of autumn in Northern and start of spring in Southern Hemisphere.
