Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB), which released a preliminary report in the Air India crash in Ahmedabad, is a government agency under Civil Aviation Ministry which investigates civil aviation accidents. The sole objective of AAIB investigations is prevention of accidents and incidents and not to apportion blame or liability. AAIB also conducts safety studies from time to time.
