India's Dibang Multipurpose Project, a 2,880 MW hydropower dam in Arunachal Pradesh, aims to be India's tallest dam, generating 11,223 MU/year and expected to be ready by Feb 2032. It is meant to counter China's upstream dams, serve flood moderation, and support local power needs. It previously faced opposition from the Idu Mishmi tribe over displacement and environmental concerns.
