COVID-19 cases surged over 1,360% in India, with active cases rising from 257 on May 22 to 3,758 on June 1. Samples from west and south showed new variants are sub-variants of Omicron, a strain behind COVID-19 wave in 2022, ICMR said, adding there's nothing to worry about. Cases first rose in south, then west and now in northern India.
