European Union (EU) on Sunday launched a new digital entry and exit system (EES) that requires non-EU citizens to register at the border when entering Europe's Schengen area, which includes 29 countries. Visitors must scan their passports and have their fingerprints and photographs taken. EES is aimed at detecting overstayers, combating identity fraud and curbing illegal migration.
