Satellite-Based Maritime Safety Assistant System, or Transponder, developed by Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) operates through satellite signals. It eliminates dependency on mobile towers, allows real-time, two-way communication between trawlers at sea and authorities on land—even from remotest locations. In emergencies, fishermen can now send distress messages for immediate response.
