A pop-up SMS scam, or "flash" SMS, is a text message that appears directly on a phone screen, even when locked. It blocks the phone’s use until dismissed and doesn't save to the inbox, making it harder to report. Scammers use this method to trick people into responding to fake offers or malicious links.
