Raigad Fort is famous because it served as the capital of the Maratha Empire under the rule of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj from 1674. It's also renowned for its strategic location, impressive architecture, and the historical significance of Shivaji Maharaj's coronation there. UNESCO has declared it as a World Heritage Site along with 11 other forts of the Maratha Empire.
