The Karnataka government is likely to bring bill named after Dalit scholar Rohith Vemula. It aims to protect students belonging to SC, ST, OBC and minorities from acts of exclusion. The first offence will invite jail of one year and a fine of ₹10,000. The accused, in case of repeat offence, will get three-year jail with ₹1 lakh fine.
