Sutapa Chowdhury, an 18-year-old college student used to live in a girls’ hostel in Murshidabad’s Berhampore. She was stabbed 42 times by her ex-boyfriend Sushanta outside her hostel in May, 2022 after she broke up with him due to his drug addiction. Sushanta was given death sentence by a Berhampore court which was cancelled by Calcutta High Court on Wednesday.
